Bitė, who was afraid of stairs

Bitė is a two-year-old female who grew up on a farm. When she arrived at a foster home on the fourth floor of a block of flats, it turned out she had never seen stairs.

For the first week we carried her. Then we learned one step at a time: a treat on the next step, praise, a rest. After three weeks Bitė climbed on her own, and two months later she left for a home with a garden – where there are only three steps.
